Admission Requirements

If the number of applications is higher than thesis supervising capacity of the department, students may not be accepted even if they satisfy the minimum criteria.

Admission Criteria for Graduate Programs (2024)

  M.S.

  Ph.D.
  • METU EPE* ≥ 65
  • ALES (analytical) ≥ 70
  • B.S. CGPA ≥ 2.50/4.00
  • Letters of recommendations (2)
  • Letter of intention
   Ph.D. with M.S. degree

  • METU EPE* ≥ 65
  • ALES (analytical) ≥ 70
  • B.S. CGPA ≥ 2.75/4.00 
  • or M.S.CGPA ≥ 3.50/4.00
  • Letters of recommendations (If you are applying for PhD program, one of the reference letter should be taken from your MS thesis advisor and the other from your thesis jury members.)
  • Letter of intention

  Ph.D. with B.S. degree (Integrated Ph.D)

  • METU EPE* ≥ 65
  • ALES (analytical) ≥ 80
  • CGPA ≥ 3.00/4.00
  • Letters of recommendations (2) 
  • Letter of intention

METU-EPE: METU- English Proficiency Exam 
ALES: Graduate Study Admission Examination (For International Applicants GRE Equivalent score is considered)
CGPA: Cumulative Grade Point Average
